Bangladesh to Launch Hajj Centres and Digital App for Pilgrims’ Convenience in 2025
To enhance support for Bangladeshi pilgrims during Hajj 2025, the government is set to launch a series of modern initiatives, including Hajj Management Centres in Bangladesh, Makkah, and Madinah, as well as a comprehensive mobile app designed to assist pilgrims throughout their journey.
Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain told UNB that these efforts aim to ensure a seamless, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience. He noted that through the new mobile platform, officials in Dhaka will have round-the-clock access to monitor and support pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The mobile app will come with several helpful features:
-
Luggage tracking using electronic chips
-
Real-time guidance for travel and religious rituals in Bangla
-
Medical consultation and emergency aid
-
A direct hotline for instant help
-
A feedback system for complaints and suggestions
Additionally, pilgrims will receive prayer reminders and information on key Islamic sites, helping them stay spiritually connected throughout the pilgrimage.
The new Hajj Management Centres will be based at the Ashkona Hajj Office in Dhaka, as well as at Bangladesh’s official Hajj offices in Makkah and Madinah. The app, along with a prepaid debit card system and special international roaming package, will be officially launched by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on April 20.
In a step toward a cashless experience, every pilgrim will be provided with a reloadable debit card that can be used in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims will also benefit from a budget-friendly roaming service, allowing them to use their Bangladeshi SIM cards abroad without hassle.
For Hajj 2025, a total of 92,300 Bangladeshis are expected to participate, with 5,200 managed by the government and the remaining 87,100 through private Hajj operators. Flights are scheduled to begin on April 29, while the main rituals of Hajj are expected around June 5, subject to moon sighting.
Officials say these developments are aimed at ensuring a spiritually centered and stress-free pilgrimage by reducing logistical barriers for Bangladeshi pilgrims.
