Murder Attempt Case Filed Against Nusrat Faria, Nipun, and 15 Other Actors
A murder attempt case has been filed against 17 popular actors from the Bangladeshi film industry, including Nusrat Faria, Nipun Akter, Asna Habib Bhabna, Apu Biswas, and Zayed Khan. The case is linked to an incident that allegedly took place in Dhaka’s Vatara area during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement, confirmed the Officer-in-Charge of Vatara Police Station.
Court documents reveal that the case was lodged by Enamul Haque at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) Court in Dhaka. The complaint names former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her government’s 283 affiliates, and 300 to 400 unidentified individuals. According to the case, Nusrat Faria has been accused of financially supporting actions against the movement, allegedly funding opposition efforts.
Others named in the case include actresses Apu Biswas, Suborna Mustafa, Rokeya Prachy, Asna Habib Bhabna, Sohana Saba, Meher Afroz Shaon, Jyotika Jyoti, and actors Simon Sadiq, Zayed Khan, and Azizul Hakim.
The complaint further alleges that the accused financially contributed to efforts to suppress the student-led anti-discrimination protest. Enamul Haque also claims that during the unrest, a bullet fired by other assailants struck him in the right leg, rendering him unconscious on the street.
Authorities have confirmed that all legal procedures are being followed as the case proceeds.
