Foods You Should NOT Reheat Repeatedly

The Chronify

Many people love hot food. However, for cooking convenience or to save time, some people cook a large quantity at once, store it in the fridge, and reheat it later. But did you know that reheating certain foods multiple times can be extremely harmful? It not only reduces the nutritional value but also increases health risks.

Doctors always recommend eating freshly prepared food! However, if reheating becomes absolutely necessary, it is best to do it only once. Reheating more than that can negatively affect your immune system.

Rice
During the cooking of rice, Bacillus cereus bacteria can form. If cooked rice is reheated, the number of these bacteria can double, potentially causing diarrhea. According to experts, these bacteria can survive even after the rice is fully cooked. If left at room temperature, the bacteria multiply, leading to food poisoning. When rice is reheated between 5°C to 55°C, the bacteria become active again.

Eggs
If eggs are reheated, their nutritional value is destroyed. Various harmful bacteria can grow in eggs. These bacteria are very dangerous for the stomach. Moreover, reheating eggs causes the nitrogen in them to oxidize, which increases the risk of cancer. For this reason, nutritionists advise not to reheat eggs whether boiled or fried.

Chicken
Many people cook a large quantity of chicken at once to save time. However, chicken should not be reheated multiple times. Chicken contains a high amount of protein, and reheating changes the protein composition, which can lead to indigestion.

Tea
It is widely known that once tea is made and cooled, it should not be reheated. This is because tea contains tannic acid. Reheating tea can harm the liver.

Potato Curry
Although rich in nutrients, repeatedly reheating potato-based dishes reduces the effectiveness of the beneficial components present. Eating such food has no positive impact on health. Additionally, several case studies have shown that reheating potato curry multiple times increases the likelihood of stomach upset and food poisoning.

Spinach
Multiple studies have shown that reheating spinach increases the levels of carcinogenic elements (cancer-causing substances) in the body. This significantly raises the risk of cancer. The nitrates in spinach convert into nitrites when reheated an element harmful to the body. That’s why doctors recommend eating spinach immediately after it is cooked.

Mushrooms
Mushrooms are generally rich in fiber and enzymes that aid digestion. They help increase the activity of beneficial gut bacteria and enhance nutrient absorption in the colon. However, reheating mushrooms after they have already been cooked once can be very harmful to your stomach.
