After getting up from lying down or sitting for a long time, you may find that you can’t put your foot properly on the ground. The pain in your heel feels severe, and the cause doesn’t seem obvious. After a while, the pain may ease again. There is a ligament in the sole of the foot called the plantar fascia. When this ligament becomes strained or tight, heel pain increases.

Causes of Heel Pain Include:

  1. One of the major causes of heel pain is excess body weight.

  2. People who have been involved in sports or physical activities for a long time.

  3. Those who do very little physical activity.

  4. Diabetic patients are more commonly affected.

  5. Wearing improperly fitted shoes or using high heels regularly.



Ways to Manage and Control Heel Pain:

  1. Maintain a healthy body weight.

  2. Use proper footwear as advised by a doctor.

  3. Exercise regularly.

  4. Avoid standing for long periods; take adequate rest.

  5. Herbal remedies such as massaging with mustard oil may help reduce pain faster.

  6. Ice therapy is effective for pain relief  applying ice improves blood circulation and helps reduce pain.
