Bangladesh and Japan have signed a historic defense and technology exchange agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral strategic cooperation.
Bangladesh and Japan have officially signed a defense and technology exchange agreement, marking a significant step in enhancing their strategic partnership. The agreement was signed on Tuesday (3 February) at the Dhaka Cantonment, with the signing ceremony taking place under the supervision of the Armed Forces Division (AFD).
Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, signed on behalf of Bangladesh, while Japan's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Saida Shinichi, signed on behalf of Japan.
This agreement is seen as a milestone in the relationship between the two countries, reflecting deep mutual trust, cooperation, and a shared vision. The partnership is expected to accelerate Bangladesh’s defense modernization process, incorporating advanced technologies and defense equipment in line with international peace and security standards as set forth by the United Nations Charter.
This agreement not only enhances bilateral ties but also fosters deeper strategic collaboration in South Asia, contributing significantly to regional stability and global security. Furthermore, the agreement is set to boost military exchanges and cooperation, playing a crucial role in strengthening Bangladesh’s defense capabilities and future defense strategies.
