Direct Flights Between Dhaka and Karachi to Resume After 14 Years

Bangladesh's Biman Airlines to launch direct flights from January 29, enhancing connectivity with Pakistan.
After a hiatus of 14 years, direct air travel between Bangladesh and Pakistan will resume on January 29. Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights on the Dhaka-Karachi-Dhaka route, with trial flights running until March 30.
Officials from the airline revealed that the number of flights may increase depending on passenger demand and operational considerations. Biman has already received official approval from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, allowing the airline to operate flights using a designated air corridor over Pakistan’s airspace.
Currently, most passengers traveling between Bangladesh and Pakistan use connecting flights via the Middle East, which are time-consuming and costly. The resumption of direct flights is expected to significantly reduce both time and costs for travelers, while also fostering business, tourism, and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
The direct flight route, which was discontinued in 2012, is being reintroduced following several months of discussions with Pakistani authorities. The recent diplomatic and business cooperation between Dhaka and Islamabad has paved the way for the relaunch of this important connection.
