Baby formula prices soar, rising Tk 140–800 per can in six months
The price of baby food has soared uncontrollably. Within just six months, the price of powdered milk brands like Cow & Gate and Horlicks has increased by Tk 140 to Tk 800 per can. This sharp rise has not only added to parents’ suffering but also made it difficult to ensure proper nutrition for children. However, this is not the first time baby food prices have been climbing every year. Analysts blame the government for the lack of effective market monitoring, which they say has allowed such hikes to continue unchecked.

Bangladesh clothing exports to USA gains big value & volume; China slips behind
Between January–July 2025, Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States rose by 21.66% year-on-year, reaching US$4.98 billion. During the same period, overall US apparel imports grew by a much lower rate 4.96% globally. In terms of quantity, the amount of Bangladeshi garments imported by the US increased by 20.33%, while the unit price of those items edged up by 1.11%.

Dhaka Division Records Highest Unemployment, Graduates Top the List
Dhaka division has the highest number of unemployed people in the country. The division accounts for 687,000 jobless individuals, followed by Chattogram with 584,000 and Rajshahi with 357,000. The final report of the 2024 Labour Force Survey was released today (Thursday) by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). Division-wise, after Dhaka, the number of unemployed stands at: Chattogram 584,000; Rajshahi 357,000; Khulna 331,000; Sylhet 216,000; Rangpur 206,000; Barishal 139,000; and Mymensingh 104,000.
