Attack on July Warrior Enam Siddique in Jessore: Fear Spreads in the Area

Enam Siddique, a Veteran of the July Uprising, Stabbed in Jessore; Admitted to Hospital in Critical Condition
A brutal attack took place in Jessore on January 4, 2026, when Enam Siddique, a prominent figure from the July Uprising, was stabbed after being assaulted by two unidentified individuals. The incident occurred in the Enayetpur area of Jessore’s Sadar Upazila. The attackers struck Enam with a stick on his head before stabbing him multiple times in the chest. He was rushed to Jessore General Hospital in critical condition.
Enam, the son of the late Khondkar Aminullah of Enayetpur, had previously been injured during the 2024 July Uprising when he was shot in the head by police in Uttara. His family claims that the attack was an attempt to kill him, further fueling tensions in the area.
According to medical officers, Enam suffered stab wounds to his chest, neck, and arms and is currently being treated in the surgery department under close supervision. Local political figures, including Anzarul Haque Khokon, General Secretary of Jessore District BNP, have raised concerns that this attack may be politically motivated to disrupt the upcoming elections.
The Jessore Kotwali Police are investigating the incident and working to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
