The Chronify
The Bangladesh Air Force announces plans to build an advanced airbase and drone manufacturing facility in Bogura, strengthening the nation's defense capabilities.
The Chief of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmood Khan, has revealed plans to establish a comprehensive airbase and drone manufacturing facility in Bogura. He emphasized that the project is part of a larger strategic plan to make Bogura a vital center for the Air Force in the future. This initiative will involve developing the infrastructure for the airbase and building the capacity to produce Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
The UAVs produced at this facility will be designed for military operations and will incorporate high-tech capabilities. The project is set to be implemented on a government-to-government (G2G) basis, which will involve foreign technological assistance and technology transfer.
One of the key goals is to reduce dependency on foreign sources for UAVs, and instead, establish indigenous production and maintenance capabilities. The development of the Bogura airbase is expected to enhance the operational capability of the Air Force in the north-western region of Bangladesh. It will play a crucial role in rapid deployment, training, and conducting aerial operations in emergencies.
The announcement to build the airbase and UAV manufacturing facility is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the country’s defense capabilities while fostering the development of domestic defense technologies.
