A bomb explosion took place in the Mogbazar area of Dhaka on the evening of December 24, 2025, resulting in the death of a young man named Siam. The incident occurred near the Liberation War Memorial, below the flyover, according to the police.
Handirjhil Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Golam Murtaza confirmed the incident, stating that the police were dispatched immediately after receiving the news. The area is known as a gathering spot for media personnel, and the police reached the scene shortly after the explosion.
Eyewitnesses reported that a bomb was thrown from above the flyover, and upon detonating, Siam was severely injured. He was later found lying bloodied at the site and died shortly after.
Siam's relatives revealed that he worked at a private factory and was in the area at the time of the incident. Initially, his identity was not confirmed, but later, his family arrived at the scene and identified him.
Upon hearing the news, police quickly arrived and cordoned off the area. The explosion led to widespread panic in the locality, but the perpetrators quickly fled after the bombing.
The Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP's Ramna Division, Masud Alam, mentioned that the bomb was thrown from the flyover. The reason for the bombing remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
