Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to express serious concern over recent security incidents affecting Bangladeshi diplomatic and consular premises in India.
The ministry highlighted attacks outside the Bangladesh High Commission and its residence in New Delhi on December 20, 2025, as well as vandalism at the Bangladesh Visa Centre in Siliguri on December 22, carried out by extremist elements.
“Bangladesh is deeply concerned over violent protests targeting its diplomatic missions in India,” the ministry said, condemning acts of intimidation and violence that endanger personnel and undermine principles of mutual respect, peace, and tolerance.
Dhaka called on the Indian government to investigate the incidents thoroughly, take steps to prevent recurrence, and ensure the safety and security of Bangladesh’s missions and staff. The ministry said it expects India to act promptly in line with its international and diplomatic obligations.
