On December 21, 2025, Additional IGP Khondokar Rafiqul Islam addressed the media regarding the escape of Faisal Islam, the prime suspect in the shooting of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, to India. He suggested that the incident might be a part of a larger publicity strategy, although the exact location of Faisal remains unconfirmed. Despite this, the police and intelligence agencies are actively working on the case.
At a press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Additional Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) Shafiqul Islam confirmed that investigations into Hadi's murder were underway.
