Govt Issues Gazette for 474 Category-B ‘July Fighters’

The Chronify

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has officially published a gazette notification for 474 individuals classified under Category ‘B’ (Critically Injured) of the July Fighters. This revised list, issued under the July Uprising Martyr Families and July Fighters Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance 2025

The notification, officially released on February 3, 2026, reflects a re-evaluation of injury severities following requests from the revolutionaries. According to the Ministry, many individuals previously listed in Category 'C' have been upgraded to Category 'B' after medical verification showed their injuries were more severe than initially recorded.

Benefits for Category ‘B’ July Fighters
Individuals in this category are defined as those who sustained serious injuries (such as the loss of a limb or an eye) but maintain partial mobility. Their benefits include:

  • One-time Grant: Tk 300,000 (of which many have already received the first installment of Tk 100,000).
  • Monthly Allowance: Tk 15,000 for life.
  • Medical Care: Lifelong free treatment at all government hospitals.
  • Rehabilitation: Priority access to government and semi-government jobs, along with specialized vocational training.

Identity Cards: Official "July Fighter" ID cards and certificates.

Broad Scope of the Revised List
Alongside the 474 people in Category 'B', the government also upgraded 387 individuals to Category 'A' (the most severely injured, who require constant assistance). These Category 'A' fighters are entitled to a Tk 500,000 one-time grant and a Tk 20,000 monthly allowance.

The total number of recognized July Warriors currently stands at 15,442, despite the recent removal of 128 names found to have provided duplicate or false information. This gazette is part of a larger state commitment to uphold the spirit of the 2024 uprising as the nation prepares for the February 12 National Election.
