Magistrate Khan's strict measures bring significant improvements to passenger experience and reduce harassment
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is undergoing a significant transformation under the leadership ofExecutive Magistrate Naushad Khan. Since assuming his post, Khan has implemented strict enforcement measures that are addressing years of mismanagement and passenger harassment, marking a major shift in airport operations.
Magistrate Khan has taken immediate action against those involved in irregular practices at the airport. Passenger harassment, once a common complaint, has notably decreased, as offenders now face fines and legal consequences. Khan’s proactive approach includes on-the-spot inspections in response to misconduct reports, ensuring swift action.
Several key reforms have already been put into place, including regulating airport canteens to prevent the sale of overpriced or stale food. The issue of restroom cleaning staff demanding tips from passengers has also been addressed, greatly reducing harassment. Additionally, previously underutilized help desks have been made operational, ensuring passengers receive the assistance they need.
In a move to enhance transparency, banners displaying Magistrate Khan’s contact details have been installed throughout the airport, allowing passengers to easily file complaints or seek help.
The most lauded initiative is the installation of body cameras on baggage handling staff. This measure aims to combat luggage theft, a persistent issue, especially among expatriates. The cameras record all baggage handlers' movements, with video access remaining under the direct supervision of Magistrate Khan, offering a solution to reduce theft and ensure the safe handling of passengers' belongings.
