Nahid Condoles Death of Former PM Khaleda Zia

Md Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), today expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, calling her demise the end of a long and eventful chapter in Bangladesh's political history.
In a condolence message, Nahid Islam highlighted Khaleda Zia's courageous leadership in anti-autocracy movements, saying she showed the people the path to achieving democratic rights.
He noted that following the mass uprising of 1990, Khaleda Zia played an exceptional role in establishing parliamentary democracy and restoring a democratic environment in Bangladesh.
Referring to her long political career, Nahid Islam remarked that she endured repeated imprisonments and numerous hardships but remained steadfast in her political ideals and in defending the rights of the people. "She was uncompromising when it came to the sovereignty of the country and the nation," he added.
The NCP leader emphasized that Begum Khaleda Zia's contributions and struggles in the fight for democracy would be remembered and preserved, and her lifelong dedication to the welfare of the country and its people would continue to inspire future generations.
"Her passing today marks the conclusion of a long and eventful chapter in Bangladesh's political history," he said.
