One Robber Killed as Homeowner Fights Back During Armed Robbery Attempt in Pirojpur

Violent clash leaves one suspected robber dead and two family members injured during late-night attack in Nazirpur
A suspected robber was killed and two members of a family were seriously injured after a violent confrontation broke out during a robbery attempt at a house in Pirojpur’s Nazirpur upazila.
The incident took place around 2:00 am on Saturday in Kolardoania village when a group of seven armed robbers reportedly broke into the home of teacher and businessman Ujjal Bahadur.
According to police and local sources, the attackers entered the house and assaulted the homeowner with sharp weapons. In response, the family members fought back, leading to a fierce clash involving stabbing and physical struggle.
Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing screams and tried to intervene with sticks and other makeshift weapons. The presence of villagers forced six members of the gang to flee after firing blank shots, while one robber remained critically injured at the scene.
Police later arrived and rescued the injured individuals, taking them to Nazirpur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared one suspect dead. The deceased has been identified as Dulal (robber), reportedly from Hizla upazila in Barishal district.
The homeowner Ujjal Bahadur and his son Mishkaf Bahadur were initially treated locally before being transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical care due to their critical condition.
Health officials confirmed that the injured robber was brought in severely wounded and later died in hospital. Authorities stated that a case is being prepared in connection with the incident.
Senior police officials, including Pirojpur Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Nasrin Jahan, visited the scene and confirmed that legal proceedings are underway.
Nazirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Tarikul Islam said investigations are ongoing and police presence in the area has been increased to maintain law and order.
Locals reported a tense situation in the village following the incident, with fears of further unrest. Preliminary police assessments suggest the attackers may have intended to loot cash and valuables from the residence.
