Parents and Two Children Burned Alive in AC Blast While Sleeping

In the capital’s Jatrabari area, Dhalpur, an air conditioner exploded, leaving four members of the same family severely burned. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. yesterday, Friday night.
Farzana Akhter, sister-in-law of the injured Tuhin, told *Prothom Alo* that her sister, her sister’s husband, and their children were sleeping when suddenly the air conditioner exploded, causing a fire in the room. As a result, her sister and the others were burned. Later, local residents rescued them and took them to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at around 2 a.m.
Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, a residential physician at the institute, said that 47 percent of Tuhin Hossain’s (38) body has been burned. His wife, Eva Akhter (30), suffered burns on 30 percent of her body. Meanwhile, their son Tanvir (6) has burns on 40 percent of his body. In addition, their other son, Touhid (7), has burns on 8 percent of his body.
