Strong inflow continues as expatriates send over half a billion dollars within the first week of April, signaling steady economic support.

Bangladesh has received a significant boost in remittance inflows, with expatriates sending approximately $540 million within the first five days of April, according to the central bank.

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the figures on Monday, noting that the country received an average of $108 million per day during this period.

The inflow marks a sharp increase compared to the same period last year, when remittances stood at $119 million, reflecting a strong year-on-year growth trend.

From July to April 5 of the current fiscal year, total remittance inflows reached $26.749 billion, representing a 22.10 percent increase compared to the previous year.

The upward trend follows a record-breaking March, during which Bangladesh received $3.755 billion in remittances—the highest ever recorded in a single month.

Earlier months also showed consistent performance, with February bringing in $3.020 billion and January $3.170 billion. In the preceding months, December recorded $3.226 billion, while November saw $2.889 billion in remittance inflows.

Officials believe the steady growth in remittances is playing a crucial role in strengthening the country’s foreign exchange reserves and supporting overall economic stability.

In the previous 2024–25 fiscal year, total remittances reached $30.32 billion, setting a new national record for annual expatriate income.
