Ship carrying wheat arrives from the US

A ship carrying 60,875 metric tons of wheat from the United States has arrived at the outer anchorage of Mongla Port. This is the third consignment of imported wheat.
On Saturday (15 November), under a cash purchase agreement based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and the Government of Bangladesh, this wheat was imported.
The information was provided in an official statement by Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food.
The statement noted that Bangladesh has already begun importing wheat from the United States on a government-to-government (G2G) basis. Under this agreement, a total of 440,000 metric tons of wheat will be imported. The first consignment of 56,959 metric tons arrived on 25 October, and the second consignment of 60,802 metric tons reached the country on 3 November.
According to the agreement, of the total 440,000 metric tons of wheat, three consignments from the United States have already delivered 178,636 metric tons.
The process of sampling and testing the wheat on the ship has already begun. After the testing, necessary arrangements will be made promptly to unload the wheat.
