The United Kingdom will continue to provide duty-free access for Bangladeshi products in its market until 2029, said Sarah Cook, the British High Commissioner to Dhaka.
She made this announcement while delivering a special speech at the HSBC Export Excellence Award 2025 event held on Sunday (December 7) at a hotel in the capital.
Sarah Cook stated that even after 2029, about 92 percent of products exported from Bangladesh, including ready-made garments, will enter the UK market duty-free. This will help enhance the diversity and stability of Bangladesh’s export sector.
She also added that this decision demonstrates the UK’s interest in strengthening long-term trade and economic partnerships with Bangladesh. She expressed optimism that the future economic relationship between the two countries will become even stronger.
