Bangladesh have lost 10 of their last 11 matches. Not long ago, ODI cricket was the format where they performed best but now it’s the one where they’re struggling the most. This poor run of form has also affected their ICC ranking. For the first time in 19 years, Bangladesh have dropped to 10th place. As a result, their direct qualification for the 2027 World Cup is now in jeopardy. If Bangladesh are not among the top nine teams in the ICC ODI rankings by March 31, 2027, they will have to play the qualifying tournament. However, if South Africa one of the World Cup co-hosts fall outside the top eight, Bangladesh must finish inside the top eight to qualify directly.
