Pakistan Cricket Board chairman confirms that a resolution regarding Pakistan’s participation in the ICC World Cup will be reached soon, with the final decision expected within the next few days.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the final decision regarding Pakistan's participation in the upcoming ICC World Cup will be made either by Friday, January 27, or by Monday, January 30. The decision follows a productive meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif regarding the ongoing issue.
In a recent social media post, Naqvi shared that he had briefed the Prime Minister on the matter, emphasizing the ongoing deliberations with the International Cricket Council (ICC). Naqvi also mentioned that the Prime Minister had instructed that the issue be resolved while keeping all options open.
"It was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday," Naqvi confirmed, signaling that discussions between the PCB and the government are nearing their conclusion.
The ongoing issue stems from the ICC's handling of Bangladesh’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup, a situation that Pakistan has vocally opposed. The PCB, in solidarity with Bangladesh, is considering withdrawing from the tournament, and the decision now rests in the hands of the government.
As the discussions continue, Pakistan's cricketing future in the World Cup remains uncertain, with a resolution expected in the next few days.
