NCP Convener Nahid Islam alleged that a major political party is spreading fear and misinformation after witnessing rising public support for the 10-party alliance ahead of the national election. He warned that extortionists and attempts to control polling centres would be resisted.

Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said on Friday that a major political party has become fearful after seeing the increasing popularity of the 10-party alliance ahead of the upcoming national election.

Speaking at a rally before a mass procession in the Banshtala area of Bhatara in the capital, Nahid Islam alleged that this party is deliberately spreading misleading information and creating an atmosphere of fear among the public.

He stressed that extortionists and land grabbers must be firmly resisted in the forthcoming election, declaring that there would be no place for such elements in the Dhaka-11 constituency. Warning those who may attempt to seize control of polling centres, Nahid said such ambitions must be abandoned.

“We will guard every polling centre. We will return home only after securing victory. We did not retreat even after facing gunfire, and we will not retreat from the polling centres either,” he said.

Referring to the July uprising, Nahid Islam said it was not carried out to remove one form of fascism only to reinstate another. “So many people sacrificed their lives to establish a Bangladesh based on justice,” he added.

He also highlighted persistent problems in the Dhaka-11 constituency, including severe traffic congestion, extortion, and land grabbing, and pledged that these issues would be eliminated after forming the government.

From the rally, Nahid Islam urged citizens across the country to ensure the victory of the 10-party alliance’s candidates and to vote “Yes” in the referendum.

Leaders from different levels of the NCP and Jamaat-e-Islami also addressed the gathering. After the rally, a mass procession began, moving toward Rampura.
