UAE Declines to Host Remaining IPL 2025 Due to Prior PSL 10 Commitment

Dubai, May 9, 2025 – The United Arab Emirates has turned down a request from the Indian cricket authorities to host the remaining fixtures of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, citing prior commitments with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Sources confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had approached the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) seeking to relocate the rest of IPL 2025 to Dubai following the tournament’s suspension. However, the ECB informed the BCCI that the Dubai venues were already booked for the concluding matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.

The PCB had finalized its arrangements on May 8, ensuring the Dubai venues were secured for PSL 10’s remaining matches, including playoffs and the final. This left no room for IPL fixtures, throwing India’s plans into uncertainty.

As a result, the ECB officially declined the IPL hosting request, emphasizing their existing contractual obligations with the PCB. The Indian cricket board is now exploring the possibility of resuming IPL 2025 in September, though Indian media have highlighted potential clashes with the Asia Cup 2025, posing further logistical challenges.

Meanwhile, the PCB confirmed on Friday that the PSL 10 matches are being relocated to the UAE due to security concerns in Pakistan. The board assured fans that an updated schedule will be announced soon.

In a related development, the 27th PSL 10 match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, which was set to take place in Rawalpindi, was rescheduled just hours before the toss over safety concerns, as authorities prioritized the security of players and spectators.

With only four league matches and four playoff fixtures remaining, PSL 10 is heading towards an exciting conclusion.
