Bangladesh Cricket Board introduces a special recognition program for former national team captains, offering exclusive benefits and considering additional health support for senior players.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to introduce a new initiative called the “Captains Card” to recognize and honor former captains of the national cricket team.
The move comes as part of broader changes under the leadership of BCB President Tamim Iqbal, who has been taking active steps to reform and modernize the country’s cricket structure.
A special event titled the “Captains Card Handover Program” is scheduled to be held on Thursday evening at a hotel in the capital, where former captains from different generations are expected to attend.
During the event, eligible former captains will receive their official cards. According to board sources, any cricketer who has led Bangladesh in at least one international match will be included in this initiative.
The board is also considering additional benefits linked to the card, aimed at strengthening long-term engagement with former players. Among the proposals under discussion is a separate “Health Card” for former captains aged over 50, which would provide medical assistance and healthcare support.
Officials believe the initiative will serve as a meaningful way to acknowledge the contributions of past leaders while also building a more supportive and connected cricketing community in Bangladesh.
