Jakaria grew up in a landless farmer’s household, where money was always tight. His father worked tirelessly on others’ land, while his sisters sacrificed their education to help at home. For two years, he poured 12–13 hours a day into studying, often crammed into a noisy mess room. Even when his father fell seriously ill with tuberculosis, Jakaria stayed focused. Financial pressures meant he could apply to only three universities—BUET, KUET, and Dhaka University—and traveling to exams meant standing in overcrowded trains and sleeping in cheap hostels arranged through acquaintances.
On BUET’s result day, Jakaria battled poor internet and a dying phone battery, initially thinking he hadn’t made the list. But a senior soon confirmed the stunning news: he had secured the 383rd position and earned a coveted spot in BUET’s EEE department. His family, overjoyed, wept with happiness—their years of sacrifice had finally borne fruit.
